South Africa is a scenic wonderland with breathtaking landscapes that ranges from forest, desert and coastal shores. On February 2017 we went to a place called Ballito for 3 days which is approximately 680 kms from Johannesburg, located in KwaZulu-Natal province. Ballito is a vivacious town with great shops, good restaurants and spectacular beaches. The weather was sunny with afternoon thunderstorms leaving a warm, earthy, uniquely African smell in the air.
Ballito beachfront during daytime…. perfect combination of Sea…Sand…Sun
We stayed in a lovely beachside Resort which is situated along the Dolphin Coast. The Resort is very well positioned for beach lovers. Our unit was set out on lush lawns with spacious balcony overlooking the white beaches of the Indian Ocean. On 1st day after we reached the resort, we had a good time relaxing on the beach listening to the musical waves and enjoying the cool breeze from the sea. We went around the Resort in the evening as it had few view points from where the sea looked spectacular with its sunset view and then enjoyed mouth watering dinner at the Resort.
The spectacular sea view… from our Resort balcony……
Braai by sea side….delicious food with musical waves….just amazing!!!
Next day we got up early so that we don’t miss the sunrise picture J and I must mention it was worth taking that call. We went out for a morning walk and I still remember that beachside walk with birds singing on their high chirping voice, the sound of waves sweeping onto the shore, the blue sky with orange Sun and floating clouds…. it was just amazing!!!!. At mid morning the beach was lightly crowded with people busy surfing, paragliding or just enjoying sun bath. We chose to have sea bath, the water was chilling but we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
Orange Sunrise…… full of love and life….
Mesmerizing view from the porch of our unit…..(In love with this view J )
In the evening we had some braai (barbeque) at our beachside patio– enjoying the sunset.
Next day, we decided to go for a Microlight aircraft ride, which is an exciting activity Ballito is well known for. It was 15mins car drive to the location from where the ride starts. Initially we were scared a bit but it was all gone just after few minutes of the ride. It was an amazing experience with stunning panoramic views of the Indian Ocean .The pilot was highly experienced with sound safety records. I must say it was another tick mark to my adventurous list.
A ride worth taking……Microlight aircraft…..preparing to take off…..
A bird’s eyeview of the vast coastline…..enhancing the beauty of Indian Ocean
In the evening we visited few of the nearest beaches……… one of them was Willard beach…it’s the main beach of Ballito which runs through the south, hugging the coastline until Salmon Bay. It’s popular with joggers, pram pushers and dog walkers. It was nice and calm place to hang around.
Willard Beach…. one of the main attraction of Ballito
I must say, No matter how descriptive a picture be, it can never capture the beauty that the beach really holds J
Beach is definitely the place to be when there is time to spare. We enjoyed every bit of it…..a revisit is definitely on the card.
It was a paradise hideaway.
